Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of aging and are beautiful. However, people sometimes can’t help but feel so frustrated when seeing their faces full of signs of aging that they would even go under the knife. Fortunately, you don’t need surgery to achieve a more youthful appearance – you need Juvéderm®.
What Is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is FDA-approved dermal fillers. The fillers are smooth gels created with hyaluronic acid. If you’re familiar with skincare, you know that hyaluronic acid is a substance that adds hydration and volume to the skin. So, when your skin or lips are injected with Juvéderm, they can have a smooth, natural appearance.
The fillers help smooth wrinkles and fine lines, soften any crease, restore the skin’s volume, and enhance contours. According to research, Juvéderm may even be capable of stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. This means upon injection, your skin may have increased elasticity and firmness.
Types of Juvéderm Fillers
Juvéderm is an incredibly versatile treatment. It can be used in different body parts, such as the cheeks and chin, the lips, and under the eye. Different types of Juvéderm fillers are available:
Juvéderm XC: This Juvéderm filler helps smooth the lines around your mouth and nose
Juvéderm Ultra XC: Juvéderm Ultra XC enhances the lips, making them look plump for up to a year
Juvéderm Voluma XC: This dermal filler contours the face, adding volume and definition to the upper arch of the cheekbone and chin
Juvéderm Volbella XC: Juvéderm Volbella XC is a lip filler that makes lips look subtly fuller while smoothing vertical lip lines
Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC: This softens moderate to severe facial wrinkles, mainly targeting the lines around the mouth and nose
Juvéderm Vollure XC: This dermal filler also smooths the lines around the mouth and nose
Benefits and Drawbacks of Juvéderm
Juvéderm is a non-surgical treatment that works well for facial rejuvenation, augmentation, and sculpting. It provides instantaneous results, meaning you can achieve a youthful look right after the injection. The fillers also have infused anesthetic lidocaine, minimizing pain during and after treatment.
There’s little risk of allergic reaction with Juvéderm. This is because hyaluronic acid is a substance that the body naturally produces. In case you don’t like the results, the fact it uses a hyaluronic acid base makes the fillers easy to dissolve. Juvéderm also has longer-lasting results than other fillers.
Its results, however, are temporary. If you want to maintain your youthful skin, you’ll need touch-ups. You should also know that it’s not a substitute for plastic surgery and doesn’t suit every situation. After treatment, expect some tenderness, swelling, and bruising, but they will disappear in a few days.
Juvéderm can last six to 18 months, depending on the formula and how much was injected. Of the different types, Ultra XC and Volbella XC can usually last a year. On the other hand, Ultra Plus XC can last a year or more. Of all, Vollure XC lasts the longest, up to 18 months. Many who have tried Juvéderm say it’s worth it.
