What Cosmetic Surgeries are Trending in 2020?

Many of us would like to change at least one aspect of the way that we look, whether that is something to do with our size, shape, a particular feature or the way that our body is aging. Fortunately, it is possible to alter and enhance virtually any element of our appearance thanks to cosmetic surgery.

Cosmetic surgeries are some of the most elective procedures in the world, with more than 18 million procedures performed in 2018 alone. These include both invasive surgeries and newer, minimally invasive treatments. Unsurprisingly, the number of cosmetic surgery procedures that are expected to be carried out this year is set to be even greater and of course, some surgeries are more popular than others. Here’s what you need to know about which cosmetic surgeries are expected to be trending in 2020.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation has been one of the most popular cosmetic procedures since around 2006, and this isn’t expected to change any time soon. The goal of breast augmentation surgery is to increase the size of the breasts, and this can be done either using artificial implants or your body fat. There are two varieties of implant available – silicone, which is pre-filled to a specific size, and saline, which is inserted into the chest empty and then filled with saline solution to the desired size. At the end of treatment, patients who undergo breast augmentation will achieve larger, fuller breasts.

Liposuction

Liposuction is also exceptionally popular since it is one of the only ways to remove excess pockets of fat from the body to create a smoother, toned and slimmer silhouette. Liposuction is performed through a number of very small incisions, where a cannula is inserted to suck out the excess fat cells. It can be performed on many areas of the body including the hips, thighs, abdomen, flanks, buttocks, upper arms, knees and even chin.

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty

Also referred to as non-surgical nose reshaping, this extremely sought-after treatment can transform the appearance of the central feature of your face without the need for invasive surgery. The procedure is carried out using dermal fillers which are injected into and around the nose to alter the contours. There is virtually no downtime and the results can last for around a year before further treatment is needed.

Botox

Botox has long been considered one of the most popular and effective non-surgical cosmetic treatments. These injections, which contain the neurotoxin Botulinum type A, will temporarily freeze the muscles in the area into which they are placed – which is typically the upper part of the face, such as the forehead and around the eyes. This prevents the overlying skin from contracting and forming lines and wrinkles. More recently, Botox is also being used to enhance the appearance of the lips and in lip lift procedures, which shortens the space between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lip.

Hair Transplants

Hair loss is an extremely prevalent problem that affects countless people across the country. Although hair transplanting isn’t a new procedure, the technique has been much more refined in recent years, and modern procedures are far more effective. There are two different types of hair transplant surgery. These are Follicular Unit Strip Surgery and Follicular Unit Extraction. Your hair transplant specialist will be able to advise you which is most suitable for your requirements.

Minimally Invasive Body Contouring

What if we told you that you can achieve the effects of liposuction with a much less invasive procedure? You can with minimally-invasive body contouring procedures. There are a variety of different techniques available from fat-freezing to red light therapy. They usually involve a series of treatments and it can take several months to see the results, but typically the techniques used mean that there is little to no recovery period.
