What to Expect from Non-Surgical Nose Filler

Are you happy with the shape, size, or general appearance of your nose? Many people aren’t, but the good news is that it’s much easier to improve the way that your nose looks than you might realize, thanks to non-surgical nose fillers.

The procedure to get non-surgical nose fillers is sometimes also referred to as non-surgical rhinoplasty. This is because the procedure is designed to alter and enhance the appearance of the nose, just like conventional rhinoplasty. However, this is achieved without any incisions, bone shaving or grafting, or any other invasive techniques. Here’s what you need to know about what to expect from a non-surgical nose filler procedure.

What is the process of having non-surgical nose fillers?

Getting non-surgical nose fillers is a very simple and straightforward process. There is no need for a general anesthetic, although patients are usually offered topical anesthetic to help minimize any discomfort during the treatment.

The fillers used contain hyaluronic acid or HA for short. Our bodies naturally make hyaluronic acid, and as a result, HA fillers are not dangerous and should not cause a reaction. Using fillers boosts the amount of HA found within the skin. HA binds to water and causes the area into which it is injected to increase in volume. When this happens, skin becomes tighter and smoother, crevices and areas of lost volume are filled, enabling your surgeon to alter the appearance of the nose quite significantly.

The exact number and location of the injections you will need will depend on the areas of your nose that you wish to change and how much filler is required. Your surgeon will be able to discuss this with you ahead of your appointment.

How quickly will I see the result of my procedure?

One of the best things about non-surgical nose fillers is that you can start to see the results of your procedure right away, although there may also be some swelling that lasts for up to a week as a result of the injections.

Hyaluronic will start to break down after time, but in most instances, the results will last between 12-18 months before additional fillers will be required to sustain the improved appearance of your nose.

Will there be any side effects?

Aside from the swelling that naturally occurs following the injections, you may also notice some redness, tenderness and mild bruising, but this should only last for up to a week. You may be given topical cream to help ease this, as well as instructions for looking after yourself in the days following your procedure.

Patients who opt for non-surgical nose fillers do not need to take any time off of work following their procedure, although some still choose to allow an extra day to rest and to allow for the bulk of the swelling to go down.
